Power Bank Rules on Indian Flights — What's Actually Allowed?

Updated June 25, 2026 | 3 min read

This is one of the most confusing topics for Indian flyers. Short answer: Yes, you can carry a power bank — but ONLY in your cabin bag. Never in checked luggage.

The Rules

Capacity Cabin Bag? Checked Bag?
Up to 100 Wh (≈27,000 mAh)✅ Yes❌ Never
100-160 Wh (27,000-43,000 mAh)⚠️ Airline approval❌ Never
Above 160 Wh (43,000+ mAh)❌ No❌ No

Practical Tips

  • 🔋 Most common (10,000-20,000 mAh): Totally fine in cabin bag
  • 📋 Label must be readable: mAh/Wh must be printed on the power bank. Unmarked = confiscated
  • 🧳 NEVER check it: Security will pull your bag and possibly delay you
  • 🔢 Max 2 per person: Most airlines allow 2 power banks per passenger
