Every Indian airline provides free wheelchair assistance. It's your right under DGCA regulations. Here's how to get it.
How to Request
- 📞 At booking: Select "wheelchair" or "special assistance" during booking
- 💻 After booking: Call the airline 48+ hours before departure
- 🏢 At airport: Request at the airline counter — available even without pre-booking
Types of Assistance
- ♿ WCHC: Completely immobile — assistance from check-in to seat
- 🦽 WCHS: Can walk short distances — wheelchair between gates
- 🚶 WCHR: Can climb stairs — wheelchair on ramp only
Your Rights
- ✅ Free: Airlines cannot charge for wheelchair assistance
- ✅ Priority boarding: Wheelchair passengers board first
- ✅ Own wheelchair: Checked free as medical equipment (not counted in baggage)
- ⚠️ Battery wheelchairs: Lithium battery rules apply — check with airline
