After booking a flight, you receive a PNR (Passenger Name Record) - a unique reference code that contains all your booking details. Here is how to check your PNR status on any Indian domestic flight.
What Is a PNR?
PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. It is a 6-character alphanumeric code (like ABC123 or UGIR6U) that airlines and booking systems use to identify your booking. Your PNR contains:
- Passenger names
- Flight number and date
- Route (departure and arrival cities)
- Seat assignment (if selected)
- Fare class and ticket status
- Contact details
Where to Find Your PNR
Your PNR is shared with you at the time of booking through:
- Booking confirmation email from TheBookFlight or the airline
- SMS sent to your registered mobile number
- WhatsApp message if you booked via our WhatsApp support
- Booking page on the airline website or app
How to Check PNR Status
Method 1: Airline Website or App
- Go to the airline's website (IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, Vistara, Akasa Air, etc.)
- Look for "Manage Booking" or "Check PNR" or "My Trips"
- Enter your PNR and last name (or email)
- View your booking status, seat, and ticket details
Method 2: TheBookFlight Support
- Contact us on WhatsApp
- Share your PNR or booking reference
- Our team will check and share the status
Method 3: Airport Counter
At the airport, show your PNR or booking reference at the airline check-in counter. The staff can verify your booking status and issue a boarding pass.
Common PNR Status Codes
- Confirmed: Your ticket is confirmed and seats are assigned.
- Ticketed: Your e-ticket has been issued. You are ready to fly.
- On Hold: Booking is reserved but not yet paid or ticketed. Pay before the hold expires.
- Cancelled: The booking has been cancelled by the passenger or airline.
- Pending: The booking is being processed. Wait for confirmation.
- Waitlisted (rare for flights): More common in train travel. In flights, this is uncommon.
Tips for PNR Tracking
- Save your PNR in your phone immediately after booking
- Take a screenshot of the confirmation email or SMS
- If your PNR shows "Pending" for more than 30 minutes after payment, contact support
- Check PNR status again 24-48 hours before your flight for any schedule changes
- Airlines may change flight times or terminals - your PNR status page will show updates
Difference Between PNR and E-Ticket Number
Your PNR is a 6-character booking reference. Your E-Ticket number is a longer 13-digit number issued after ticketing. Both can be used to check status, but PNR is more commonly used for domestic flights in India.
